What is it about?

EC3101 is an extension of EC2101, covering topics on Market Structure and Game Theory.

Students are assessed through Homework, Participation, Midterm and Final. For Homework, you will be required to do 2 Homeworks over the semester -- one before recess week, and another after recess week. For Mid-term, questions are a mix of MCQs and SAQs. For Final, it is a 2-hour paper, 100% SAQs. Questions are generally do-able with a few trick/hard questions to differentiate students' grade.

Review

Professor Sng Tuan Hwee is a great lecturer. He is absolutely clear in his explanation but sadly doesn't teach much modules.

Content-wise, the module isn't difficult. The syllabus is brief but efforts are required to understand the syllabus and make connections across topics.

My Midterm wasn't well done due to bad time management -- I was stuck at the MCQs for a long time, which I find much harder than the SAQs. However, this does not only apply to me as my peers didn't manage to complete the paper as well. I was particularly upset as I know how to do the last question but didn't had time to finish completing it. For Final, the questions are actually easier but trickier. You don't have to study really hard for this module or memorise anything. To score well for this module, you just need to be able to keep calm, use your common sense and understanding to answer the questions under exam stress.
