What is it about?

EC2101 is an introductory module to Microeconomics and it covers content such as consumer and producer behaviour and profit maximisation.

Students are assessed through Pre-Lecture IVLE Quiz, Participation, Homework, Mid Term and Final. There are a total of three pre-lecture quizzes and you can easily attain full marks for it. For Participation, it is breakdown into two components -- presentation (5%) and in-class participation (5%). There are two homework in total and they are both group work. Homework is generally do-able as one is given ample time to complete it. Nevertheless, they are tricky and a single mistake can bring you down to below average. Mid Term consists a mix of MCQs and SAQs. They are tricky but do-able. Attaining a score higher than 90 points is possible but you will need lots of practice for it. For Final, it is a mix of MCQs and SAQs as well and I find it generally harder than Mid Term but as long as you understand the content well, it shouldn't be a problem.

Review

I really enjoy Dr. Zhang Yang class. Her humour is on point and she is extremely clear in her explanation.

This module is competitive as it is an essential module for Economics major. I would recommend one to try to source for extra practices. I generally like Math so taking this module is not taxing for me at all. If Math is not your forte, please do more practices.

All in all, EC2101 is a fun module. The workload is moderate to heavy as you need to practice a lot. However, if you like math, the workload won't be as heavy as it seem.
